The Customer Experience: Selling with REX Offers Quality Service While Saving Money

When it came to choosing who they used to sell their Simi Valley home in California, you could say REX client Azar Jahangiri saw a “sign.”

“I heard a couple radio commercials,” Jahangiri said of how she first heard about REX. “Then I went to one of my friend’s homes in Woodland Hills and saw a REX sign in their neighborhood. I thought, ‘That’s a sign.’”

Jahangiri talked with her husband, Dave Ruhr, about using REX and they went online to check it out. They filled out a contact form on the website and they began the process to sell their home using REX.

Jahangiri said they were originally planning to upgrade and remain in their Wood Ranch neighborhood, but after talking to their lender, it didn’t make sense financially for them.

“We would have to pay a lot more than we thought and just the cost of living in California was going way too high,” she said. “Our lender said, ‘Hey, there’s other places in the world you can go that’s more affordable.”

That idea stuck and Jahangiri said they chose to put their house on the market. She and her husband both work from home, and with their daughter, Sofia, preparing to start ninth grade, the timing couldn’t have been better.

“In a weird way, it worked out for us,” Jahangiri said.

The longtime California residents, who had grown up in Westlake Village and Thousand Oaks, debated between Palm Springs and Las Vegas before settling on a home about 25 minutes north of the Las Vegas Strip.

Having gone through the process of buying and selling a home three times prior to using REX, Jahangiri said she really loved that it felt more like a team was selling her home, rather than a commission-driven agent.

“I felt like everyone was just kind of helping you and there wasn’t someone trying to get your business,” she said. “The company has your business.”

She was also a fan of the data-driven technology REX uses to market your home to potential buyers.

“I liked the fact that they were just targeting so you aren’t wasting time with people who aren’t really looking for specifically that area or size of house,” she said. 

Selling your home amidst a pandemic can be a little nerve wracking, but Jahangiri said it can be done. They had originally spoken with REX about putting the house on the market prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. They created a plan and worked backwards, from when their daughter would start school in August. But then the pandemic hit.

“When the pandemic hit, it was ‘OK, now what do we do?’” Jahangiri said. “We sat on it for a month and then said, ‘We have to do this.’”

They reconnected with REX and got the house ready to sell.

“Everyone was very cautious,” Jahangiri said. “We had like five people come in and look at the house. Everyone wore masks and were very careful. It worked out. For some reason, our house sold in three weeks after five showings.

“Don’t be afraid of making big changes – it can be done.”

Jahangiri said she also loved working with her agent, Dylan Rios.

“Our agent was amazing,” she said. “They know the industry and Dylan specifically knew our area which was great. They were just easy to work with and everything was really clear moving forward with every step of every phase. You just felt like they were really on your side.

“They know what they are doing and I trusted them. I knew we were working with professionals.”

While there are no immediate plans to move again, as the family gets settled in the Las Vegas area, Jahangiri said she would use REX again. 

“I touted them to several friends and family – if you are going to sell your home, you go with REX,” she said. “The first thing was knowing the percentage was less than the traditional way of selling a home. That was the big draw for us.

“I can’t imagine not using REX – why would you not try to get the most out of your money and get the same service?”
