From the Desk of…Steve Dawson

“From the Desk of…” is a blog series that details the work of individual REX team members. These are first-person posts created to pull back the curtain on what it’s like to work at REX. Today’s post is from Steve Dawson, Managing Broker.

I get asked all the time, why? Why did I go from being a successful, traditional Realtor of 16 years to working for a salary with a start-up company? Why did I walk away from working my own hours, answering to no one and bringing in huge commission checks? The answer…the FUTURE.

I had spent nearly my entire adult life building my referral based real estate business, and something just didn’t feel right.Something was nagging me.

A few years back, I thought to myself, why are we still selling real estate this way? Why aren’t we just selling people’s homes through the internet? I am antiquated and people do not need me, a Realtor.

That was a tough thought to have. To know that you are no longer needed can change the way you view things.

I was doing entirely too little work to be making the kind of money I was making, and it didn’t sit right with me. It was time to make a change.

The minute I saw REX, I knew it was the future of real estate. There was no doubt in my mind. I met with the REX Co-Founder and CEO, Jack Ryan, and I saw that he had the same vision I had years ago.

I felt that he could be the one to lead the charge and pave the way of change, in an unchanged industry.

Since the first day I started with REX, I have not looked back. It has been the best work-related decision I have ever made. Every day brings new challenges, ideas, and pushes me to my limits, but I would have it no other way.

The team I get to work with is fantastic, and I truly believe that because of our team, we will grow faster and go farther than anyone thought possible.

REX is the future of real estate, and I am privileged enough to be a part of this great team.
