You know the saying, you only get one chance to make a first impression? Well, the same goes for your house when you are trying to sell! Long before a potential buyer steps foot inside your house, they are searching online, browsing photos, and imagining where all their furniture might go.
So, if a potential buyer is out there looking at your home photos online, don’t you want to make a great impression? The photos of your house should be inviting. Ultimately, the hope is a buyer looks at those photos and is compelled to come by and see the house in person.
Here are 6 simple ways you can get your home ready for its close up…
This seems like a no-brainer, right? Well, you’d be surprised. Just picking up kids toys, dirty laundry, and shoes will make the home look clean. Think of it this way…if you don’t know what to put away, ask yourself, “would I leave this out if I had company coming over?” If the answer is no, put it away.
Remove family photos
Remember, we want the buyer to picture themselves in the home. It’s tough to do when they see family photos of the current owners all over the place. We know you love your family, but putting away the photos for a day won’t change that.
Set the table
Here’s something you can ADD instead of take away. Barren dining room tables and kitchen tables are boring. Set your tables like you are about to have the neighbors over for a nice meal. Floral centerpieces are a nice touch, too!
Clean the bathroom
We appreciate your attention to personal hygiene. But, let’s keep the dental floss, deodorant, and hairspray to ourselves. You’ve heard it before, but the old adage is, kitchens and bathrooms sell houses. Make sure yours are spotless!
Mow the lawn
Don’t forget about curb appeal! Even though your potential buyer is taking a virtual tour, the outside of the house is still important. Mowing the lawn, trimming bushes, and raking leaves, show your pride of ownership.
Hide the pets
We love pets! But, the kennels, litter boxes, and chew toys don’t look great in photos. So, for photoshoot day, do your best to hide those items.
